The Cantonal Environmental Protection Plan of Sarajevo Canton (KEAP KS) ("Official Gazette of Sarajevo Canton", number 47/17) was adopted in November 2017, and as a program-planning document of strategic action in the field of environmental protection, it aims to preserve the natural wealth of Sarajevo Canton, improve the state of the environment and develop Sarajevo Canton on the principles of sustainable development. KEAP KS is an implementation document of the FBiH Environmental Protection Strategy for the period 2008-2018. year, part of the FBiH Water Management Strategy for the period 2010-2022. and the Federal Waste Management Plan 2012-2017. An integral part of the KS KEAP is an overview of the state of the environment in Sarajevo Canton, a list of environmental problems and priorities, an action plan with goals and measures/activities, indicators and a monitoring and evaluation plan, a financial plan, and a plan for monitoring implementation in the coming period for six thematic areas (nature, water resources, air quality management, land, waste management and policy responses). In 2021, based on the Report on the Implementation of KEAP Measures and selected priority measures from the Green Action Plan of Sarajevo Canton, Amendments to the Cantonal Environmental Protection Plan of Sarajevo Canton (KEAP) ("Official Gazette of Sarajevo Canton", No.: 20/21, 21/21) were created and adopted by the Decision of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, which includes, among other things, the Action Plan for the period 2021-2025 with a total of 114 activities/measures, as follows: Nature (20), Water Resources (20), Air Quality Management (31), Land (5), Waste Management (27), and Policy Responses (11). For each activity/measure, the carriers, implementation time, financial framework, source of funds, success indicator, obstacles and method of resolving obstacles are defined. Monitoring of the implementation of the KEAP of Sarajevo Canton in all its segments, according to the established dynamics and deadlines for implementation, is carried out by the Coordination Committee for the Implementation of the KEAP of Sarajevo Canton.
