The Sarajevo Canton Anti-Corruption and Quality Management Office, with the assistance and support of the Embassy of the United States of America, has established an Interactive Map for the Sarajevo Canton area. The reasons for establishing such a tool are multiple, starting from the need to present to the public the data collected in the field of construction and spatial planning in the Sarajevo Canton, the necessity of increasing the transparency itself (as the most effective remedy against corruption) of the processes taking place in this sector, as well as for the purpose of monitoring and preventing corrupt activities and behavior in this area. The interactive map provides the opportunity to check whether the construction and spatial planning sector is acting and acting in accordance with regulations, and the available data refers to two segments: construction of facilities and logging. The segments are shown in the Map with appropriate symbols and visual solutions depending on the stage of construction in which the facility is, i.e. whether it is illegal logging/clearing of the forest or according to the approval of the competent authority, along with other relevant data related to these segments. In the construction and spatial planning sector, the timeliness of information is of crucial importance for preventing potential harmful consequences. Therefore, through the Interactive Map, the intention is to encourage social activism in the field of construction and spatial planning for the purpose of preventing corruption and other irregularities, based on the timely information that this tool provides. There are several very important goals that are intended to be achieved by establishing and making available to the general public such an analytical and statistical tool: increasing the level of transparency (as the most effective solution against corruption) in the construction and spatial planning sector; protection of natural resources and living space; prevention and suppression of corruption in the construction and spatial planning sector; monitoring the activities of political entities, and prevention and suppression of political party financing; prevention and suppression of investments of so-called "dirty money"; improving the quality of reports of corruption and other irregularities themselves; improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the actions of competent authorities, etc.
