Metadata Details: Vulnerability study of the area of Sarajevo Canton

The Sarajevo Canton Vulnerability Study is a procedure for evaluating spatial characteristics in spatial development planning. Its purpose is to optimize the distribution of activities in space from the perspective of protecting the public interest in the field of environmental protection. By analyzing the entire research area, it is concluded where the risk of negative environmental impacts, due to the characteristics of the area, is greater or lesser. In this way, we identify the most environmentally appropriate locations for certain activities in order to avoid later conflicts with other users of the area and representatives of the public interest. The chosen methodology for preparing the Study is in accordance with the provisions of environmental and spatial legislation with expert guidance in terms of methodology and approach, and with EU recommendations. The Vulnerability Study considers all development categories that are elaborated in the Sarajevo Canton Spatial Plan. It also takes into account the existing planning classification and short-term and medium-term development proposals. The activities that were processed were the following: - housing construction (individual housing construction, collective housing construction, construction of weekend villages, construction of tourist villages, social infrastructure (schools, health institutions, cultural institutions, etc.) - agricultural areas (agrarian operations) - exploitation of mineral raw materials (quarries, clay mines) - outdoor recreation (recreation centers, ski resorts, bicycle paths, etc.) - traffic infrastructure (roads, terminals) - energy infrastructure (power lines, gas pipelines) - utility infrastructure (cemeteries, landfills) - industrial zones, warehouses - economic zones (technology parks, large shopping centers, transport and distribution centers).
