Metadata Details: Study of inventory of the state and creation of a database of land coverage and land use in the Sarajevo Canton (CLC Corine Land Cover)

The subject of the Study is to determine the current state of land cover in the Sarajevo Canton by land use categories, in line with the nomenclature and coding, and according to the standards of the CORINE Land Cover project (CLC) at the European Union level. The CORINE classification was developed and adapted to the conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a map scale of 1:5,000. The study of the inventory of the state and the creation of a database of land cover and land use in the Sarajevo Canton in GIS technology was carried out using satellite images from 2006, orthophoto images from 2008 at a scale of 1:5,000, aerial photos, existing pedological maps at a scale of 1:50,000, land use value maps at a scale of 1:10,000, and additional field research and data checks. The main objectives of the Study are to: - establish a balance sheet of land resources, - establish categories of land coverage and use, - create a land use map, i.e. land coverage and use, which will demarcate productive land (agricultural and forest) from non-productive land (land used for other purposes). As a final product, a synthetic map 1:50,000 (data base at 1:5,000) was obtained, on which the special values of the area - forest, thickets and marginal parts of the forest, habitat, traditional orchards, cultivated cultivated land, etc., were highlighted, as a basis for the future planning of the development of Sarajevo Canton and its spatial planning with rational application and optimal use of land resources.
