Metadata Details: Study of optimal energy supply for the Sarajevo Canton

The Study of Optimal Energy Supply of the Sarajevo Canton is a tool of the Sarajevo Canton Spatial Plan, and includes orientations regarding the structure of energy sources, measures for the introduction of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, and is the basis for determining the optimal method of heating certain types of settlements, which is applicable when developing urban and lower-level spatial plans. The study analyzes the current development of municipal energy, provides an assessment of the state of municipal organizations in the field of energy, and especially emphasizes measures for modern energy management. Although it is a study, the authors tried to incorporate many elements of the energy strategy into the Study, in order to improve its applicability in practice. The efficiency of energy use can always be improved. Usually, less funds are needed to rationalize energy consumption than to produce new amounts of energy, but organizational forms for the introduction of increased energy efficiency are often missing. Energy efficiency is today an imperative of development. Organization for increasing energy efficiency is achieved through an energy management system. In this sense, an integrated energy management system has been proposed in the Canton, which envisages the establishment of an agency or office for energy management, especially energy consumption management in budgetary institutions, the introduction of energy certification of buildings, and the encouragement of the development of the ESCO concept.
