building permit is an act that approves the construction of a specific facility. It is issued on the basis of an urban planning permit, a main project, evidence of land ownership and certificates of provided infrastructure. This permit confirms that the project meets all technical and safety requirements. Since 2007, the Sarajevo Canton Development Planning Institute has been maintaining and updating a database of issued building permits in the Sarajevo Canton. Each permit in the database is displayed as a point with basic attributes: municipality, cadastral municipality and parcel, classification code, date of issue, internal code of the Institute, year of entry and data on the applicant. The database is available to administrative authorities via the WebCity GIS application, using standardized web services (OGC WMS and OGC WFS). The system provides transparent and spatially precise insight into issued permits, which facilitates planning, control and management of the development of the Sarajevo Canton.
