The Air Quality Index uses real-time measured air quality data officially reported by air quality monitoring stations in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the help of current data, users can gain insight into air quality in real time, and accordingly, depending on the population category they belong to, they can adjust their daily activities so that their health is not endangered. The current regulations in the FBiH set air quality limit values at the short-term (hourly or daily) and long-term (annual) levels, as is the case with EU legislation. Long-term limit values are stricter because long-term exposure to pollutants can cause serious health consequences. The index shows the short-term state of air quality, not the long-term (annual) level, which can differ significantly from each other.
