This dataset is a 0.08 meter pixel resolution, RGB color orthophoto covering 375 square kilometers in the Tirana-Durres area. Orthophoto 2018 was created through the project "Geospatial Information for Sustainable Territorial Development in the High-Intensity Development Area Tirana-Durres" funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and aims to create large-scale maps for this area with rapid economic development. Aerial photography for Orthophoto 2018 (8 cm) was carried out on 26-27.05.2018. The data are in compliance with the standard of the Council of Ministers No. 397, dated 19.06.2019, On the approval of the document "State Standards for Technical Specifications of Geospatial Information in Albania - Topic: Orthoimaging"

Data quality and standards conformance

Steps for creating the 2018 Orthophoto, Tirana - Durrës area. 1. The digital aerial camera used is UltraCam Eagle, 2. Ground control points: Horizontal and vertical control was used to determine the position and elevation for reference and correlation purposes and as input to the Aerial Triangulation process, a total of 40 identifiable ground control points were marked. 3. Aerial triangulation: The root mean square error (RMSE) of the aerial triangulation with 40 control points is less than 0.08m. 4. Ortho rectification and Ortho mosaicking: The orthorectified images were mosaicked and the radiometry of the images was corrected. The orthophoto indices are 750-meter by 500-meter and the images were produced in TIFF format. 5. The finished RGB color orthophotos were checked for image quality and accuracy.
