BASIC INFORMATION

Core identification information for the metadata record
State Gravimetric Network
Albania (ALB)

The State Gravimetric Network of the Republic of Albania is part of the National Geodetic Network and is composed of: 1. The State Zero-Order Gravimetric Network (3 points); 2. The State First-Order Gravimetric Network (42 points); 3. The Second-Order Gravimetric Network (338 points); 4. The Third-Order Gravimetric Network (772 points). The absolute zero-order gravimetric points (Shkodër, Tirana, Saranda) and the 42 points of the first-order relative gravimetric network constitute the Albanian Gravimetric Datum. The unit of measurement for the gravitational acceleration of the force of gravity is ms-2 (meter per second squared). For more information, contact the email: info@asig.gov.al The data are in accordance with the State Standard for Technical Specifications of Geospatial Information in Albania. Topic: Determination of the geodetic reference frame and geodetic control.

QUALITY AND CONFORMANCE

Data quality and standards conformance

The implementation of the gravimetric network of orders I, II and III was carried out during the period August-October 2018 and June-November 2024 for 634 third-order points within the framework of the partial construction of the networks as part of the Albanian Geodetic Reference Framework (KRGJSH), with European standards and combined between them. This project was carried out under the coordination of ASIG in cooperation with Albanian specialists in the field of geophysics and geodesy, the Department of Geophysics and the University of Thessaloniki. During the implementation of field measurements, the following criteria were taken into account: • The standard deviation in determining the value of the gravitational acceleration of the force of gravity at the points of the first-order gravimetric network did not exceed the value of 10 µGal (Order I), ≤ 20 µGal (Order II) and ≤ 30 µGal (Order III). • Measurements at the Gravimetric points of Order I and II were carried out with two instruments Gravimetra Sintrex-CG5, at least 2 measurements (round trip) in the time frame of one day. For Order III, they were carried out with a relative gravimeter but with the same parameters of Order I and II. • For the relative gravimetric measurements of Order I and II, the profile method was used, where the measurement of the gravimetric points of the first order started and ended at the absolute gravimetric points of Order 0 (AGP 01; AGP 02; AGP 03). The Second Order measurements started and ended at the First Order points, in a few cases absolute points were also used, while the Third Order started and ended at the points of Order I and Order II). • The coordinates of the points were determined with GNSS measurements, according to the technical specifications on these measurements. GNSS surveys at Order I and II points were conducted using the static method with a minimum survey duration of 60 min for each point, while for Order III, using the RTK method, 2 min.
