Base map of scale 1:2 000 in Image (raster) format, created by the State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG) in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for the project "Geospatial Information for Sustainable Land Development in the Tirana-Durrës Area". For the period 2021-2023, Asig has completed an area of 476.1 km², which mainly includes the Tirana - Durrës area, (photographed in 2018) and Krujë (photographed in 2015). In 2024, the following areas were processed: Durrës, Belsh, Përmet, Rrogozhinë, Përrenjas, Peqin, Divjakë, Gramsh, Muriqan-Obot, Kuçovë, and Reç (Shkodër), with a total area of 96.3 km² - 2015 aerial photography. During 2025, Asig expanded the digital map with the following areas: Kavajë, Metalurgjik (Elbasan); Trush - Barbullush, Pentar (Shkodër); Raban, Ballë, Kosovë - Gosnisht, Hotovë-Zleushë-Mokricë (Përmet), with a total area of 136 km², based on 2015 aerial photography. 11 datasets with relevant features, which contain information (attributes), were used to create the 1:2,000 base map. The datasets used for these areas are: 1. Geographical Names (GN) - Names of areas, regions, localities, cities, suburbs, settlements or any geographical or topographical feature of public or historical interest. 2. Administrative Unit Boundaries (AU) - Units of administrative divisions of areas where the state has or exercises legal rights for local, regional and national governance separated by administrative boundaries. 3. Transport Networks (TN) - Road, rail, air, cable, and water transport network as well as the relevant infrastructure which includes the connection between the different networks. 4. Hydrography (HY) - Hydrography in the context of data specification includes descriptions of the sea, lakes, rivers, other waters, and their phenomena and all hydrographic elements. 5. Elevations (EL) - The elevations of a terrain surface, whether terrestrial or barimetric in nature, is one of the most important descriptors of land morphology. 6. Land Cover (LC) - Includes the physical and biological coverage of the land surface, including artificial surfaces, agricultural surfaces, forests, natural areas, waters. 7. Buildings (BU) - Buildings are the place where people live, work, and spend most of their time and where they should be provided with good living conditions and protection against hazards (floods, fire, pests, etc.) and pollution (noise, air pollution, etc.). 8. Government Services (US) - Government administrative and social services, such as public administrations, civil defense shelters, schools, and public or private hospitals. 9.Industrial Infrastructure (PF) - Includes geospatial data, which provide information about the activities that take place during industrial processes, industrial facilities and the main environmental issues related to them. 10.Agricultural Infrastructure and Aquaculture (AF) - Infrastructure of agricultural and production equipment (including irrigation systems, greenhouses and stables). 11.ASIG (AS) - Elements added by ASIG, identified as necessary for completing the map. The data are in conformity with the standard with the Council of Ministers No. 952, dated 02.12.2020, On the approval of the document "State Standards for Technical Specifications of Geospatial Information in Albania".
