In accordance with the Law on Nature Protection ("Official Gazette of RS", no. 36/2009, 88/2010, 91/2010 - correction, 14/2016, 95/2018 - second law and 71/2021) protected natural assets are registered in the register of protected natural assets and are kept as a central and provincial register.
The Register of Protected Natural Assets is an electronic database of protected areas, areas under prior protection, protected species and movable protected natural documents.
The Central Register of Protected Natural Resources, as a public document, for the territory of the Republic of Serbia is managed by the Institute for Nature Protection of Serbia.
The provincial register of protected natural assets for the territory of the autonomous province is managed by the Provincial Institute for Nature Protection, which submits data on changes in the register to the Institute for Nature Protection of Serbia, for entry into the central register.
The Minister prescribes the type of data, the method of obtaining, maintaining, protecting and using data from the register of protected natural assets, as well as data from the register that are of a public nature.
