Data collected in the field in the process of creating planning documents in forestry into the alphanumeric database Osnova and connected to the geodatabase of SE "Srbijašume". SE "Srbijašume" use the valid classification of forest fire risk, described by prof. Vasić, M. In 1992. This classification is widely used in the preparation of ten-year planning documents in forestry, the Forest Management Plan, but also in the preparation of forest fire protection plans. The main criteria for classification the level of forest fire risk is the type of vegetation.
Forest fires risk levels according to Vasić:
I - Stands and cultures of pines and larch
II - Stands and cultures of spruce, Douglas fir and other conifers
III - Mixed stands of coniferous and deciduous trees
IV - Hornbeam and oak stands
V - Stands of beech and other deciduous trees
VI - Bushes and Shrubs
To create a layer of data on vegetation types, data from the database on stand units were grouped, in order to get a general view of forest vegetation types, in such a way that a larger number of stand units based on the main type of trees was grouped into a smaller number of vegetation types.
