Metadata Details: Waterways on the rivers Danube, Sava, and Tisza.

In order to ensure an efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly system of inland waterways that benefits the population and economy within domestic and international contexts, cross-sectional profiles on the navigable rivers Danube, Sava, and Tisza are measured each year. Cross-sectional profiles of the Danube River are measured every year from Grocka to Bačka Palanka, and every other year from Grocka to Bezdan. Cross-sectional profiles of the Sava River are measured from the confluence with the Danube to the border with Croatia. Cross-sectional profiles of the Tisa River are measured from the confluence with the Danube to the border with Hungary.Based on these measurements, navigational maps are created, depicting the waterway routes and river banks.

The Inland Waterways Directorate, known as "Plovput," was established in 1963. Inland waterways represent a natural asset of our country. Waterways are part of the transportation and traffic infrastructure that connects Serbia with the European Union. The determination of waterway routes on rivers is based on hydrographic measurements. All hydrographic measurements are conducted in accordance with the Law on Hydrographic Activities and the recommendations of the International Hydrographic Organization.
