This network was partially built during 2018 as part of the partial construction of the networks that make up the Albanian Geodetic Reference Framework (KRGJSH). The tide gauge stations of Orikum and Shëngjin were installed in the premises of the Pasha Limani and Shëngjin Naval Bases. In 2018, the installation of the Durrës tide gauge was also completed in the premises of the Bisht Palla Naval Base and during 2019, the installation of the Saranda tide gauge is being completed in the premises of the Saranda Naval Base. These works in all their phases have been coordinated by ASIG in cooperation with partner institutions and the contracting firm. The positions selected by ASIG required the construction of suitable reinforced concrete platforms for the installation of the tide gauge equipment system as well as to guarantee the stability and long-term existence of the network. The equipment is provided by well-known companies, meeting the technical requirements set by ASIG, the most important of which are: • The main sea level sensor, which serves to measure the sea level, is a self-calibrating Radar. • The main sea level sensor collects data with a minimum 1 Hz interval and provides the average value of an interval with a minimum of 15 seconds and a maximum of 1 minute. The sensor value is given in meters above a defined level (a zero level set by the user). • The average value must be stored every 10 minutes (00,10, 20, 30 etc.). The accuracy of the average value is higher than 5mm. • The opening angle is less than 15 degrees. • The tidal variation is lower than 1 meter and including the meteorological contribution (which hardly exceeds 1 meter), we have a total wave variation of max. 2m. • The Tide Gauge system should have a platform for real-time data transmission to the command center for performance monitoring and quality assessment. • Sea level data from the Tide Gauge should be downloaded and stored digitally (CD, Data Storage, etc.).
