This layer defines the area of land use coverage. Land use is defined as the type of human activity that occurs on or near the land surface. The main criteria adopted for describing land use are: (1) Function and (2) Activity. Function refers to the economic purpose of land use and groups different types of land use into a single category; Activity groups together land uses that are similar in many characteristics and are used at the lowest levels of the hierarchy. (Land use data for 2017 and 2018 were updated in April 2020). This shapefile is extracted from the National General Plan, which was approved by Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 881, dated 14.12.2016. For the drafting of this plan, the National Agency for Territorial Planning has collaborated with the Line Ministries (MZHU, MEI, MARDHRAU, MM, MZHETTS, MTI), and has consulted and supported the studies carried out by them. The Coastal Belt Area is defined as a priority area for tourism development. The data does not conform to the State Standard for Technical Specifications of Geospatial Information in Albania.
